The module itself sinks current to detect a closed contact. Logic Levels OFF (Logic 0): Open circuit or voltage < 5V DC ON (Logic 1): Closed contact to field common, or voltage > 15V DC. System Compatibility Foxboro I/A Series DCS. Must be installed in a compatible FBM fieldbase (e.g., FBM200 series). Update Rate Very fast, typically on the order of milliseconds for state change detection. Power Supply Powered by the fieldbase (typically +5V from the power supply module). The field device loop is powered externally (for dry contact) or by a field-supplied voltage source. Isolation Channel-to-Channel: Groups of channels are typically isolated. Channel-to-Bus: Optical isolation provides protection for the system bus from field-side electrical faults. Field Wiring Field wiring is terminated to a removable screw terminal block on the associated fieldbase. A common return terminal is provided for groups of inputs.
