WT9-2P430

The SICK WT9-2P430 is a compact, self-contained through-beam photoelectric sensor from the robust WT9 series. It integrates both the transmitter (emitter) and receiver into a single, unified housing, creating a precise "optical fork" or "U-channel" for detection. Objects are detected the moment they break the infrared light beam traveling directly between the built-in emitter and receiver. This design offers the high reliability of a through-beam system in an extremely compact and easy-to-install format.

Key Features & Strengths:

Compact Through-Beam Principle: The integrated design provides all the benefits of through-beam sensing—high reliability, high speed, and immunity to object color, surface, or reflectivity—without the need for separate alignment of two devices. This drastically simplifies installation.

Small Object Detection: The narrow gap between the emitter and receiver allows for the detection of very small objects, such as tiny components, wires, or thin labels, that might be missed by other sensor types.

High-Speed Response: Extremely fast response time enables reliable detection of objects moving at very high speeds or in high-frequency counting applications.

Visible Red Light Beam: Many variants use a visible red light beam, which makes alignment and troubleshooting visual and straightforward, ensuring the object passes correctly through the sensing window.

Robust Housing: The housing is typically made from a robust plastic or composite material, designed to withstand the rigors of an industrial environment.

Fixed Cable Connection: The "2" in the model number indicates a 2-meter fixed cable for a secure and reliable connection to the power supply and control system.

Clear Status Indication: Integrated LEDs provide clear visual feedback for power (green) and the output switching state (yellow), indicating when the beam is interrupted.

Technical Specifications (General):

Sensing Principle: Through-Beam (Opposed Mode) with integrated transmitter and receiver.

Light Source: Typically visible red light (e.g., 650 nm) or infrared.

Sensing Gap (Aperture): The distance between the emitter and receiver is fixed and compact (e.g., a common gap is a few millimeters to a couple of centimeters).

Operating Voltage: 10...30 V DC

Output Type: The "P" in the model number indicates a PNP (sourcing) output.

Output Function: The object interrupts the beam (Dark-On operation).

Connection: Fixed cable (2m)

Protection Rating: Typically IP67, making it resistant to dust and water ingress.

Typical Applications:
The WT9-2P430 is ideal for applications requiring precise, high-speed detection of small objects in a confined space:

Label gap detection on packaging and labeling machinery

Counting and verifying small parts (e.g., electronic components, pills, fasteners) on vibratory bowls or conveyors

Break detection of wires, filaments, or threads in textile and manufacturing equipment

Paper jam detection in printers, copiers, and paper processing machines

Monitoring the presence of objects in automated assembly and handling systems
